SBI offers free doorstep banking to senior citizens, disabled account holders; know how to avail service

The State Bank of India (SBI) stands as India’s largest government bank, surpassing both government and private banks in various aspects. It’s highly likely that a significant portion of the country’s bank account holders has an account with SBI. What’s interesting is that SBI offers several services to its account holders at no extra cost, including doorstep banking.

SBI extends its doorstep banking service to disabled account holders, a commendable gesture. However, there’s a limit to this service, which is provided three times a month. To access this convenient service, customers need to register through the doorstep banking app.

So, what exactly does doorstep banking include? SBI offers senior citizens aged 70 and above, as well as differently-abled customers, the opportunity to avail of banking services in the comfort of their homes, without incurring any charges. This service covers various transactions, including cash deposits, withdrawals, and check deposits. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. Customers can conduct only one transaction per day, with a maximum limit of Rs 20,000 and a minimum of Rs 1,000. Additionally, your SBI branch should be located within a 5-kilometer radius of your home to access this facility.

To be eligible for SBI’s doorstep banking service, you should be a senior citizen above 70 years of age or have a visual impairment or a medical condition that makes it challenging for you to visit the bank in person. Your account’s Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements should be completed, and your valid mobile number should be registered with the account.

To use the Doorstep Banking service, follow these steps:

1. Download the Doorstep Banking (DSB) app from the Play Store.

2. After installation, register by entering your mobile number.

3. Log in using the PIN provided and input the required information.

It’s worth noting that banks typically charge separate fees for doorstep banking services, and these fees can vary from one bank to another. Always check with your bank for details regarding the fees associated with this service.
