Bumrah didn’t bowl in the opening game vs Pakistan as no play was possible due to rain after India’s batting. The 29-year-old returned after a lengthy injury layoff for the three T20Is vs Ireland. He was assigned to lead the team in the tour where produced some impressive performances with the ball.

The speedster joined Team India’s preparatory camp for the Asia Cup in Alur and also participated in several match-simulation drills and skill-based sessions.

Ahead of the Pakistan clash, captain Rohit Sharma spoke about having Bumrah back with the team.

“Playing after a long time it was good to see Jasprit Bumrah back on the ground. He is an important part of our team. It felt good he and Prasidh Krishna played two matches on the Ireland tour and bowled well there which is a good sign for us. They worked hard in the NCA during the rehabilitation period,” Rohit had said.
