How LIC policyholders can submit their digital life certificate

A Life Certificate or Life Existence Certificate is proof submitted to the Pension Distributing Authorities stating that the pensioner is alive to receive his/her pension.

A pensioner is required to submit a Life Certificate or Jeevan Praman Patra to the concerned agency or Pension Disbursing Authorities (PDAs) annually to continue receiving the pension. The Life Certificate can be submitted personally by reaching banks or post offices or generated digitally using the government’s Jeevan Pramaan Face application. For pensioners who are LIC policyholders, they can conveniently submit their Life Certificate on the Jeevan Saakshya application.

What is a Life Certificate?

A Life Certificate or Life Existence Certificate is proof submitted to the Pension Distributing Authorities stating that the pensioner is alive to receive his/her pension. It has to be submitted on an annual basis. Usually, the deadline to produce the certificate is in November. If the pensioner fails to submit the life certificate before the deadline, then the PDA will not disburse his pension.

How can LIC policyholders submit Life Certificate?

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) introduced the Jeevan Saakshya mobile application to facilitate the submission of Life Existence Certificates for Individual Pension Plan (IPP) annuitants and staff pensioners of LIC.

Below are the steps to submit a Life Existence Certificate digitally through the LIC Jeevan Saakshya app.

Step – 1 Download the LIC Jeevan Saakshya app from Google PlayStore or Apple App Store. 

Step – 2 Open the app and register using your mobile number or email id.

Step – 3 Enter the OTP sent to you and generate a four-digit MPIN, which will help you login to the app in the future.   

Step – 4 Enter your annuity/pension number, your date of birth and type of pension before clicking on ‘Submit’.

Step – 5 The app will send an OTP to your registered mobile number or email id. Enter the OTP and allow the app to fetch your policy details.

Step – 6 Now, click on ‘Proceed’ to generate your Life Existence Certificate. You can select either Aadhaar or DigiLocker for verification.

Step – 7 The app will click a picture of your face using your device’s camera.

Step – 8 Fill all the required details and submit.

Step – 9 Your Digital Certificate of Existence will be displayed on your screen.

The LIC Jeevan Saakshya app also allows the generation of the Life Certificate as a facilitator. For that, one has to provide information about the facilitator and other details such as the Aadhaar and policy details of the annuitant or pensioner.
