PM Modi invited to install Lord Ram’s idol at Ayodhya temple on January 22

Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to install the idol of Lord Ram in the Garbhagriha of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya temple on 22 January next year, Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Trust said. PM Modi also posted about the same through his X (formerly Twitter) account and said that he feels very blessed to be part of the historic occasion.

“Today along with members of Shri Ram Janambhoomi Trust we met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have invited him (PM Modi) to come on January 22 to install the idol of Lord Ram in the in the Garbhagriha. He has accepted our request. He will be present on January 22. The date for ‘Pran Pratishtha’ on January 22 is confirmed,” Champat Rai said.

“Hail Siya Ram! Today is a day full of emotions. Recently the officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had come to meet me at my residence. He has invited me to come to Ayodhya on the occasion of consecration of Shri Ram temple. I feel very blessed. It is my good fortune that in my lifetime, I will witness this historic occasion,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is coming after a long legal battle after which the Supreme Court paved the way for the construction of the temple in 2019. The temple was one of the main poll promises of the Narendra Modi-led Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). After the verdict of the apex court, the government formed a Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra’ Trust which was tasked to take all decisions regarding the construction of the temple.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the temple on 5 August and the construction is moving at a fast pace. The idol of Ram Lalla will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on 22 January 2024.

“PM Modi has announced that he will come to Ayodhya and participate in the ceremony on January 22nd. The letter was sent by the Trust to PM Modi and he has accepted the invitation. PM Modi will come to Ayodhya on 22nd January and Ram Lalla’s pran pratishtha will be done by him,” Chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Acharya Satyendra Das told news agency ANI.
