‘Har Yojana Hai Uphaar, Desh Mana Raha Hai Tyohaar’: Modi Govt Lists Schemes That Make ‘Har Din Diwali’ for Citizens

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday listed how his government has brightened up the lives of crores of citizens with its various schemes.

Through an ad posted on X, PM Modi said, “I am very satisfied that today every house in the country is illuminated with our public welfare schemes on the festival of Diwali.”

A look at the public welfare schemes listed in the ad:

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY): Under the scheme, assistance is given to poor and homeless people of the country to build houses, and with the help of this amount, citizens living below the poverty line are able to build their own houses, PM Awas. There are two forms of PM Awas Yojana, the first is PM Awas Gramin and the second is PM Awas Urban which is for urban areas.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY): In May 2016, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG), introduced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ (PMUY) as a flagship scheme with an objective to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, cow-dung cakes etc.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan): Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is an initiative by the government of India that give farmers up to ₹6,000 per year as minimum income support.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY): It is a scheme to provide loans up to Rs 10 lakh to the non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises. These loans are classified as MUDRA loans under PMMY. These loans are given by Commercial Banks, RRBs, Small Finance Banks, MFIs and NBFCs.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana: It is a national public health insurance scheme of the Government of India that aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low-income earners in the country.

UPI Digital India: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was first introduced in 2016, focusing on transparency and convenience in financial transactions. Over the years, UPI has become an important part of the digital financial infrastructure.

Start-up India: Under the Startup India initiative, eligible companies can get recognised as Startups by DPIIT, in order to access a host of tax benefits, easier compliance, IPR fast-tracking and more.
