India Weather Update: IMD predicts rainfall in several parts of South India, dense fog in North – Check complete forecast here

The Indian Meteorological Department in its fresh forecast has indicated that there might be isolated rainfall over the southern peninsula of India, starting Friday. The forecast also predicts thick fog on Friday and Saturday morning in some places in north India like Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. The weather could be similar in some states of northeast India over the weekend.

A few areas in Assam and Meghalaya on Friday may get light to moderate rain. Some places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may get very heavy rain. However, the rainfall may be reduced later. For the next five days, some areas may get light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in Kerala and Mahe, and for the next three days, in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Lakshadweep. On December 8 and 9, there may be very heavy rain in some places in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep.

Chennai weather update

Meanwhile, the situation in Chennai is getting worse due to a flood-like situation amid heavy rainfall from Cyclone Michaung. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had on Thursday said that the Centre will help Tamil Nadu as much as possible. He also said that the Centre has given Rs 450 crore to the state disaster fund.
