Nevertheless, this is not the first time an RPF officer came to the rescue of a passenger’s life from a fast-moving train in Mumbai. In April 2023, RPF personnel Pallabhi Biswas saved an old man from slipping between the locomotive and the platform while trying to climb on a slow-moving train at the Purulia railway station. The old man wearing a lungi loses balance and slips while trying to climb the train. He was getting dragged by the train and was almost about to fall when a female police constable on the rounds saw him and ran towards him. The constable grabs his hand and pulls him away from the train, avoiding a fatal accident.

Deboarding or boarding a moving train has been quite a common occurrence for people in all parts of the country. Despite several warnings, these actions don’t seem to stop leading to dangerous accidents.
