Oppo to launch Reno 11 series in India with a big chip ‘downgrade’ on January 11: Report

Oppo is set to launch its Reno 11 series smartphones, Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro, in global markets kicking off with Malaysia on January 11. As per a new leak, the company is tipped to launch the two phones in India, too, on the same day. While that may be good news for some, there’s also some bad news in store apparently.

The Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro were launched in China in late November and have remained exclusive to Oppo’s home market so far. The models launching globally, India included, could be a bit different though. Rumour has it that Oppo might launch the Chinese Reno 11 as the global Reno 11 Pro which is to say that the global Reno 11 could end up becoming even more inferior as far as specs go.

The product listing on Oppo’s Malaysian website already confirms that the global Reno 11 will have a tweaked design and so, chances of it getting a whole different set of specs, particularly the chip inside, can’t be ruled out entirely. But we’ll see.

Noted tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24) believes Oppo could launch the Reno 11 series in India on January 11 with the vanilla Reno 11 getting a less powerful Mediatek Dimensity 1080 (relative to the Chinese model that has the Dimensity 8200) and the same 67W fast charging support. The Reno 11 Pro could feature either the Dimensity 8200 or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The latter powers the Chinese Reno 11 Pro.

Whether Oppo ends up launching the Reno 11 series in India on January 11 remains to be seen but with its launch in Malaysia already confirmed, we’ll surely get to know about the specs soon enough so watch this space for more updates.
