IMD Weather Update: Showers in northern and central India; Chilly weather to continue in parts of the country – Full Forecast

The MeT department has forecast a largely clear sky in Delhi today with strong surface winds of 20-30 kilometers per hour.

Under the influence of a trough over peninsular India, isolated to scattered light rainfall activity is likely over north Peninsular India & central India from February 9 to 12, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned.

Due to a western disturbance, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is predicted in Arunachal Pradesh, and isolated rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura on February 8.

Hilly regions like Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are likely to receive light isolated snowfall today.

Delhi to see clear weather

The MeT department has forecast a largely clear sky in Delhi today with strong surface winds of 20-30 kilometers per hour. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 7 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively.

On Wednesday, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 20.7 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, while the air quality remained in the moderate category, the weather forecast agency mentioned.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded in the moderate category with a reading of 175, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) stated.

On Tuesday, the 24-hour AQI stood at 141, whereas on Monday, it was 180, and on Sunday, 280, according to the CPCB’s data.

Dense fog to prevail in parts of India 

Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail in morning hours in isolated pockets of north Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and West Bengal till February 10.

Colder days in-store

A fall in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C is very likely over many parts of East and Central India during the next 2-3 days and no significant change after that. Further, ground frost conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.
