Zepto tests free delivery subscription plan

Quick commerce firm Zepto has begun testing a membership programme, which allows users to avail free deliveries and exclusive member discounts.

For a fee starting at Rs 99 per month, Zepto Pass members can gain access to unlimited free deliveries on orders exceeding Rs 99. Moreover, they can avail discounts of up to 20% on purchases surpassing Rs 299. For general users, the minimum cart value required for free delivery is Rs 199.

Currently, the feature is being offered at an introductory price of Rs 19 per month to select users in cities like Delhi and Kolkata.

According to the FAQ section on its app, the Nexus Ventures-backed startup plans to expand the benefits of Zepto Pass as it gains momentum.

Future enhancements may include the introduction of various subscription plans tailored to different time periods.

“We are obsessed with our customers. As a result of that, we are constantly running dozens of small experiments to improve customer experience. Only a few of these experiments are brought to market, hence we do not comment on them,” the company said in a statement.

The subscription plan is positioned as part of the company’s broader strategy to dominate the quick commerce market, challenging competitors such as Swiggy’s One membership and BigBasket’s bbstar plan.

Meanwhile, Swiggy has also introduced a lighter version of its app to attract budget-conscious users.
