The Chirayu Yojana covers 1,500 diseases and allows beneficiaries to get free treatment in any listed private or government hospital across the country. The scheme aims to improve the access and affordability of quality health care for thousands of families in India.

The beneficiaries can get their Ayushman Bharat card by visiting any Atal Seva Kendra or health centre and showing their family identity card or Aadhar card, or by getting it made for free in any empanelled hospital to get the benefits of the scheme, a senior official said.

Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner Captain Manoj Kumar said that the Chirayu Yojana is a boon for the citizens and the government is paying full attention to free treatment facilities and quality of treatment. He said that the scheme also covers new members of the family who join through marriage or birth, for whom a birth certificate or marriage certificate is required.

The PM-JAY, also known as Ayushman Bharat, is a flagship health initiative of the central government that provides free health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh per year to poor families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh.

The scheme targets over 12 crore impoverished and vulnerable families, effectively reaching approximately 55 crore beneficiaries that form the bottom 40 per cent of the Indian population, according to Haryana Government’s data. PM-JAY ensures cashless access to healthcare services, mitigating the financial burden of medical treatments that often plunge millions of Indians into poverty annually.
