Katrina Kaif got candid about the time when she was not keen about starring in New York and how Salman Khan convinced her to do that film.
Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif embarked on the journey of acting with the film Boom. Her second Bollywood release Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya with Salman made her a recognized face in the industry. Since then, she has never looked back. Her hard work, dedication, and passion led her to become the highest-paid actress in Bollywood with a net worth of Rs 263 crore. One of the most iconic films from her roster includes New York that starred John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

However, in a recent interview with Mid-Day, Katrina Kaif shared that she was not very keen about doing New York at that time, since it was not a quintessential Bollywood film with all the dance and song sequences. But it was Salman Khan who advised her to take the part up and despite her apprehensions, Katrina Kaif eventually did the Kabir Khan starrer, ““I did say yes to the film. I very begrudgingly walked onto the set in New York. Singh Is King had just released and was getting massive love. And I’m walking onto this, as in my mind, slightly arty film, and I’m like, ‘Where are the lights? I don’t see any lights here on the set. Where’s the camera? Such a small crew’. I was gritting my teeth. I was like, this is seeming like a very quaint production. And I was like, ‘Where’s the scale? Where are the people?’,” the actress recalled.
Katrina Kaif continued, “That turned very quickly into when the film schedule wrapped in New York, it had been the most incredible experience of my entire life up until then. All of us, we were crying to leave. None of us wanted to leave. And it was crying, like really genuine heartbreak for that experience to get over. My closest friends in my life are all the friends I made on that film till date.”
In terms of her acting career, Katrina Kaif has given several noteworthy performances in films like Namaste London (2007), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), Raajneeti (2010), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012) among others. She rose to become one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood gradually in a career nearing twenty years.
