How To Download And Use ECI’s Know Your Candidate App On Your Mobile

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched the ‘Know Your Candidate’ digital app, in a bid to empower voters by providing them with comprehensive information to make informed decisions about the candidates they will be voting for. The ECI made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, while adding how the new ‘KYC’ app provides details of the contesting candidates along with their criminal backgrounds, if any, in an easy and accessible way.

It should be noted that ECI’s KYC app has been made available for both Android and iOS devices. The ECI has mentioned that the Know Your app is available on the official Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Additionally, the ECI has provided a QR code for easy download of ththrough its website.

How To Download And Use Know Your Candidate App

We bring you a detailed step-by-step guide on how to use ECI’s Know Your Candidate (KYC) app to find out details about the candidates they will be voting for.

  • Go to the official App Store Or Google Play Store.
  • Download the official ‘KYC-ECI’ app by Election Commission of India from the Google Play and App Store.
  • Open the app and tap on ‘proceed’.
  • One can search for the candidate by entering their name in the search box at the top.
  • Click on ‘select criteria’ box below to find a list of assembly consituency/ parliamentary consituency (general/bye); list of elections held since 2019-2024; states; constituency and hit submit to find details of the candidates.

The ECI’s announcement on X read: “ECI launches Know Your Candidate app empowering the voters to make an informed choice. This app provides details of the contesting candidates along with their criminal antecedents if any in an easy & accessible manner. #KYC #KnowYourCandidate #InformedVoting #BeAnEthicalVoter.”

The Chief Election Commissioner, on the other hand, also talked about the apps through which a voter can easily find out where his/her local polling booth is, and know details about their candidate such as whether they have any criminal background or not, among other things.
