Supriya Shrinate later claimed that the social media post was made by someone who had access to her Facebook and Instagram accounts. She also blamed a parody account that was misusing her name on X. However, Shrinate’s clarification was met with strong criticism from BJP leaders and other politicians.

Ranaut had responded to the derogatory post on social media, saying “every woman deserves her dignity”.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW), through a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), has sought ‘strict action’ against Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their ‘lewd and derogatory’ social media posts against actor Kangana Ranaut.
