India weather update: Heatwave to grip Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and more – Check full forecast

Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail over Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura from the 26th to the 28th, and over Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from the 26th to the 30th.

The India Meteorological Department in its latest weather update has said that the heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue over East and south Peninsular India during the next 5 days.

Heatwave warning

As per IMD’s April 26 update, heatwave to several heatwave conditions are expected to be seen in several places over the Gangetic West Bengal, in some parts over Odisha and in some isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during next 5 days. It further said that people should anticipate heat wave conditions in scattered areas across Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and East Uttar Pradesh over the next five days. Kerala and Mahe will experience these conditions from the 26th to the 28th, while Konkan will be affected from the 27th to the 29th, and West Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam from the 28th to the 30th of April.

Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail over Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura from the 26th to the 28th, and over Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from the 26th to the 30th. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will experience this on the 26th and 27th, while Konkan and Goa will be affected on the 26th of April 2024.

Rainfall in several states

The IMD forecasts a new round of rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds expected over the Western Himalayan region from April 26th to the 29th, and across the plains of Northwest India from April 26th to the 28th. Additionally, adjoining Central India is likely to experience these conditions from April 26th to the 27th.

Isolated hailstorms are highly likely over Punjab and Haryana today.

A cyclonic circulation is positioned over northeast Assam in the lower tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation is present over north Bangladesh, with a trough extending from it to north Odisha in the lower tropospheric levels.

Isolated hailstorms are highly likely over west Madhya Pradesh and over East Madhya Pradesh today.
