T20 World Cup 2024: ICC Confirms All 10 Venues, Tournaments Starts June 4; Final on 30th

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will start on 4 June, final will be played on June 30, 20 teams will participate across 10 venues for the big prize in USA and West Indies

ICC on September 22 confirmed all ten venues and the dates for the T20 World Cup 2024 starting from 4 June next year. The final will be played on June 30, with USA and West Indies set to co-host the biggest T20 World Cup till date comprising of 20 teams.

Having earlier confirmed the three venues from the United States, including Dallas, Florida and New York, ICC on Friday confirmed the seven venues from the West Indies.

Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St Vincent & The Grenadines are the seven Caribbean venues that will be hosting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 matches.

While the West Indies have hosted the World Cup previously, it will be the first time cricket’s most prestigious tournament will be played on American soil with Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida set to be the hosts alongside a new 34,000 seater facility which will be built in Nassau County in New York.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice talking about the announcement saying it will be the third time West Indies will host the men’s event.

“We’re delighted to announce the seven Caribbean venues that will host the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams competing for the trophy. They’re all popular venues with players and fans alike that will provide a wonderful backdrop to the event,” said Allardice.

“This will be the third ICC senior men’s event hosted by the West Indies, and the matches will again give cricket fans the unique experience of enjoying cricket in the Caribbean. I’d like to thank Cricket West Indies and the seven host governments for their continued commitment and support of our sport,” he added.

Earlier, the West Indies and the USA were awarded rights to co-host the T20 World Cup 2024 back in November 2021. 15 of the 20 participating teams for next year’s spectacle have already been confirmed while five spots are still up for grabs in the coming months as teams will be gunning to join the bigwigs such as India, Pakistan and the defending champions England among others.

Qualifiers will be played in the Americas, Asia and Africa to fill the remaining spots. USA and West Indies have been given direct entry as hosts, while Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka qualified for the 2024 World Cup finishing in the top 8 of the previous edition hosted in 2022.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualified by virtue of their rankings, while Ireland, Scotland and PNG have sealed their berths via the qualifiers.
