YouTube is blocking these users from watching videos on its platform

YouTube is taking stringent measures to combat the use of ad blockers by its users. A growing number of complaints on Twitter have shed light on YouTube‘s activeness on the recently introduced policy, which involves sending notifications to users utilizing ad blockers, urging them to disable the software in order to continue watching videos on the platform. After multiple warnings, YouTube is now implementing restrictions, permitting users to watch only three videos before their access is revoked.

It’s important to note that this is not a permanent ban. Users who have shared YouTube warning screenshots on Twitter reveal those who comply with YouTube’s request to disable ad blockers or opt for its Premium subscription will regain access to the platform’s content. However, users have reported ongoing issues even after disabling their ad-blockers, with YouTube continuing to display ad-blocker removal banners.

This isn’t something that is new, as YouTube warned about these actions a few months ago. The platform informed The Verge that it would begin blocking users who violated their policies. YouTube emphasized that it will send multiple notifications, encouraging users to stop using ad blockers or consider subscribing to YouTube Premium, before restricting their viewing capabilities.

In an email, a YouTube spokesperson stated, “We take disabling playback very seriously, and will only disable playback if viewers ignore repeated requests to allow ads on YouTube. In cases when viewers feel they have been falsely flagged as using an ad blocker, they can share this feedback by clicking on the link in the prompt.”

Users who want to watch ad-free content on YouTube have two options: they can either disable ad-blocker extensions on their browsers or opt for YouTube Premium. The latter choice comes with a monthly fee, starting at Rs 129 for individuals and Rs 179 for a family subscription accommodating up to five members.
