Zomato, Swiggy, OYO Rooms register record orders and bookings on New Year’s Eve

Share market today, Zomato share price: Entities such as Zomato, Swiggy, and OYO Rooms, among others, could not have asked for a better start to the new year 2024, as the companies registered record orders and bookings during the New Year’s Eve. Food delivery company Zomato recorded the highest number of orders delivered in a single day on December 31, 2023.

Zomato delivered five-year New Year’s Eve orders (orders of the year 2015–2020) combined on Near Year’s Eve 2023. The orders were delivered by more than 3.2 lakh delivery partners, and the majority of orders were placed from Maharashtra.

As per the data, in Kolkata, a single order of 125 items was placed. People gave a total tip of Rs 97 lakh to Zomato delivery partners on New Year’s Eve. People ordered 1.47 lakh packets of chips, 68,231 soda bottles, 2,412 packets of ice cubes, and 356 lighters.

Similarly, people ordered two lakh kilos of onion and 1.80 lakh kilos of potato through Swiggy Instamart. 200 packets of single ketchup were placed in Surat. Searches for tonic water, cocktail mixers, and glasses increased ten times. 1.04 lakh people ordered food for others, data show.

“This year, the numbers are almost four times higher. with 2,00,000 kilos of kaanda and 1,80,000 kilos of aloo stocked at @swiggyinstamart, Uday Shetty is spinning and shaking, unable to control himself right now,” Swiggy tweeted.

As regards hotel bookings, OYO Rooms bookings increased by 37 per cent to 6.2 lakhs on New Year’s Eve 2023. Further, 2.3 lakh bookings were recorded at the last minute between December 30 and 31.

Surprisingly, pilgrimage places were chosen more. There was a 70 per cent jump in bookings in Ayodhya, 50 per cent bookings increased in Goa, and 60 per cent in Nainital.

Zomato shares, as of 10:09 a.m., traded 0.85 per cent or Rs 1.05, higher on the BSE at Rs 124.75 apiece. OYO Rooms and Swiggy are expected to come up with their initial public offers (IPOs) this year.
