Bengaluru Bomb Scare: In a shocking incident, three luxury hotels in Bengaluru received bomb threats via email on Thursday and soon after getting information, police and a bomb squad teams ruched to the sport and started a search operation. As per the updates from the DCP South East Bengaluru, police, bomb squads, and sniffer dogs were dispatched to the hotels to search for any explosives.

Preliminary reports suggest that the threat mail was sent to The Ottera Hotel at 2 AM on Thursday and after the hotel staff checked the email, the police were immediately informed, after which a team was rushed to the spot. The bomb squad is currently checking the hotel premises for any explosives.

However, police sources told India Today TV that it was a hoax email and nothing has been found so far.

Giving details, CK Baba, DCP South-East division Bengaluru, said, “We are investigating further about the person who sent this mail.”

The development comes after a bomb threat on Wednesday sent alarm bells ringing in Delhi’s North Block, which houses the home ministry office, but was declared a hoax as nothing objectionable was found.

Earlier this month, at least eight schools in different parts of Bengaluru received a bomb threat email which was later declared a ‘hoax’ by the city police.

Last month, the High Court sought a detailed status report from the Delhi government on the hoax bomb threat email incidents in private schools.

On May 17, the Delhi Police filed a status report before the Delhi High Court in connection with the recent hoax bomb threats in the national capital and stated that five bomb disposal squads (BDS) have been deployed and 18 bomb detection teams (BDTs) are also present in each district, at IGI airport, railway, and metro.

It is also stated that 1,764 schools fall under the Central Range, 1,032 in the Eastern Range, 1,762 in the Eastern Range, and 76 in the New Delhi Range.

The petitioner has sought formulation of a detailed action plan and implementation of the same by Government and Police as there is no action plan that the Petitioner could see anywhere in relation to such incidents which can cause havoc in anyone’s family and can have a large impact.

The action plan is in relation to dealing with such repeated incidents of bomb threats in schools across Delhi and to prepare for regular evacuation drill and such other exercises to be undertaken for safety and security of children studying in schools who are ill equipped to deal with such disasters, the petition submitted.
