Schools Closed In Jharkhand Till Dec 31 Due To Cold Wave, Classes To Resume From This Date

The Jharkhand Government has decided to close schools from December 26 to December 31 due to the intensified cold wave in the state.

Ranchi: Amid fresh snowfalls in the hilly states, the plains are experiencing a rise in cold. People in Jharkhand are shivering as the overall temperature has dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in the state. In view of the chilly winds, the state government has decided to keep schools closed from December 26 to December 31, considering the health of school children. As per the official notification, schools for classes 1 to 9 and 11 will be closed from December 26 to December 31 because of the increasing impact of the cold wave. However, considering the board exams, schools may keep classes 10 and 12 open as per the requirement.

Jharkhand Board Exams

The class 10th and class 12th board exams in the state will start on February 6 and conclude on February 26, 2023. For more information regarding the board exam, students can visit the official website, jac.jharhand.gov.in.

Weather Forecast

According to Abhishek Anand, in charge of the Ranchi Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of a cold wave prevailing in the western and central parts of the state from Monday to Wednesday. He said that the mercury is expected to drop across the entire state.

Delhi Temperature

A drop in temperature is also being recorded in the national capital amid deteriorating air quality. On Friday, the air quality deteriorated from ‘poor’ to very poor’, with Air Quality Index of 361. There is also a possibility of rain on Friday night or Saturday morning.

The minimum temperature recorded in the national capital was 6.4 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees below normal in Safdarjung. Lodhi Road witnessed the lowest minimum temperature at 6.1 degrees Celsius yesterday night. The overall maximum daytime temperature was 23 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above normal. Notably, the minimum temperature or night temperature is expected to stay around 5 degrees Celsius today.
